About the main trainer Modžo

"Dance saved me many times in life and gave me hope and values which shaped me to a perceptive and open-minded person. I consider self-awareness one of the most important factors in a personal growth, finding one's uniqueness in order to express one's style in dance. And that is why I found myself in House culture that I would like to spread in my hometown and provide space for a diverse community with a love for House dance.

I had the opportunity to study House dance for 2 years in Sweden at a state school with people from different cultures. I have been dancing for 18 years and experienced different styles. Through many years of teaching I have found proven techniques. As a trainer, I am very patient and sharing with my students as much quality information as possible for their progress."

Mishena

student / Grimmy, House Lovers

"A person without whom my House world would not exist in recent years. I am grateful for her idea, which she turned into reality - House Lovers. I am grateful for her time, energy, experience that she passes on to us. Thank you for Flek. The place you have created for us. A place where dancers from different parts meet and are themselves. They present their thoughts with movement and share their dance with others."

What is House dance?

There is not big awareness about this dance style in Slovakia. House culture originated at the end of the 70s in the underground club scene in Chicago and New York (U.S.A.). It was created in the African-American gay community who were daily oppressed and not accepted in the society. They came together and found their family in the clubs where they could escape from problems, have fun, enjoying the house music and dance.

House dance is characterized by its footwork, whole body and fluid movement, and connection to the music. The community thrives on creativity, self-expression, collaboration with dancers often gathering at clubs, dance studios, festivals and battles to share their skills and passion for the art form. The house dance community is inclusive and welcoming to everyone, regardless of gender, age, race, experience level. background etc. House music and dance is nowdays a worldwide phenomenon.
